City Of Miami: City Of Miami Celebrates 125 With Weekend Events

The City of Miami’s official weeklong 125thAnniversary celebration, Miami 125, is finishing on a high note this weekend with a lineup of exciting, family-friendly events in Little Havana, Overtown and Coconut Grove.

Little Havana Fridays: Today, 4:00pm – 9:00pm
This evening, District 3 City Commissioner Joe Carollo is hosting Little Havana Fridays at Domino Park Plaza in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. The event is a celebration of Latin music and art and will amplify the importance of all segments of the Miami community coming together to embrace the common goal of unity, diversity and inclusion. Details are available here.

Origins: The Light Community Day: Saturday, 5:00pm – 9:00pm
Tomorrow in Overtown, District 5 City Commissioner Jeffrey Watson is hosting Origins: The Light Community Day at Gibson Park from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The family-friendly event will feature fireworks, food and entertainment for families; highlight the bright future that awaits Miami’s children; and give Miami’s youngest residents the opportunity to remember the origins of the City of Miami on its 125th anniversary. Details of Origins: The Light are available here and in the flier below.

Grove Heritage Day: Saturday, 10:00am – 5:00pm
Tomorrow, the Coconut Grove BID is hosting Grove Heritage Day, a celebration of historic Coconut Grove’s role as Miami’s legacy village and a look at the living history of early African-American and Bahamian culture that defined the Grove, and later the City of Miami. Details of Grove Heritage Day are available here and in the flier below.
